The Perth Mint, historic stone building with a flagpole against a blue sky

About The Perth Mint

In 1899, Western Australia faced a gold rush, drawing prospectors daily. The Perth Mint opened as a Federation Romanesque building, serving as the goldfields' hub. Initially a branch of Britain's Royal Mint, it processed WA gold into over 106 million sovereigns by 1931.

By 1970, the Perth Mint was fully Australian-owned, having evolved from a sovereign mint into a global leader in pure bullion and collector coins.

To me, what makes the Perth Mint special is its fusion of investment-grade metals with stunning designs, such as kangaroos, kookaburras, and lunar dragons, that tell stories of Australia's wild past and vibrant present, supported by world-class refining.

Whether you're stacking silver long-term or hunting low-mintage proofs, Perth Mint offers the thrill of holding something pure, historic, and beautiful.

Iconic series

Australian Kangaroo

Launched in 1987 for gold, the silver version followed, featuring a fresh kangaroo design each year. It's THE bullion superstar for purity, and its changing artwork keeps things fresh.

Chinese Lunar (Zodiac)

12-year cycle proofs, such as the Dragon and Tiger, are hugely popular for their cultural appeal and low-mintage sets.

Australian Kookaburra

Since 1990, this cheeky bird has ruled silver 1oz coins (gold too). It celebrates Aussie wildlife and has strong collector demand.

Wedge-Tailed Eagle

Striking raptor designs in silver and gold have become popular, often selling out quickly due to their bold, eye-catching style.
