About the Royal Mint
With more than 1,100 years of striking some of the world's most iconic coins, The Royal Mint feels like stepping into a living history book.
Founded in 886 AD by Alfred the Great to combat Viking coin clipping, it has evolved through Norman conquests, Tudor gold, and modern bullion, while always delivering unmistakable British craftsmanship. Victoria's Gothic Crowns, Edward VIII pattern sovereigns (the holy grail for many), and today's Britannias all carry that legacy.
What excites me as a collector is their storytelling, from Pistrucci's timeless depiction of St George slaying the dragon on sovereigns (unchanged since 1817) to innovative security features on bullion.
Whether it's the flagship Sovereign (the "chief coin of the world"), the elegant Britannia, or themed proofs such as Peter Rabbit 50ps and the Olympic series, Royal Mint coins combine investment security with collectible joy.
Iconic series
Sovereign
Since 1489, the gold flagship coin featuring the St. George reverse has endured across monarchs, with annual bullion and proof issues embodying history in your hand.
Britannia
Since 1987, it has been a symbol of strength across gold, silver, and platinum. With rotating designs and anti-counterfeit technology, it remains an investor favourite.
50p Commemoratives
The iconic dodecagon shape appears in the 2012 Olympic designs, with 29 variations. It also features in Beatrix Potter's works and represents Diversity Built Britain.
Tje Queen's Beasts
This series features 10 proof coins, each struck in silver or gold, showcasing heraldic creatures from the 1953 coronation. It is a sold-out collection aimed at collectors seeking prestige.
