This coin honours those breakthroughs through four richly coloured scenes: a Chinese ship, airborne kites, Zhang Heng’s seismograph, and a cannon symbolising gunpowder, arranged around a central square that echoes the form of traditional ban liang coinage.

At the heart of the piece, a three-dimensional spoon-shaped lodestone sits on an engraved plate inscribed “COMPASS”, referencing the early magnetic “south-governor” used by geomancers around 2,500 years ago.

Struck on a broad 55.90mm planchet from 5oz (155.5g) of 99.99% pure silver, the rimlesscoin combines high relief, colour, and an antique finish to create depth and texture that reward close viewing.
